This May 6, I’m organizing an FSHD fundraiser with the East Brunswick High School boys volleyball team in order to raise awareness for FSHD. As I am personally affected by the disease, I was motivated to raise funds to help the fight against FSHD. Before my diagnosis, I had never heard of FSHD, and I want to change that for other people.
The fundraiser would not have been possible without the help and support of my coach, Gregory Rutz. He has been with me every step of the way, urging everyone he sees to buy a shirt and support the cause. I would like to thank him for everything he has done for me, from allowing me to modify specific exercises to having faith in me as a player despite my condition. I would also like to thank my team. I could not have asked for a more supportive and understanding group of friends. We are all close and our teamwork has led us to being named a top 10 team in the state of New Jersey!!
In lieu of an event ticket, we are asking for donations. You can make a gift directly to the FSH Society, and indicate “In honor of volleyball fundraiser.” Thank you! Donate here.
Come and root for the team! Time and place:
