Youngest member, with a passion for advocacy and fundraising
The FSH Society is pleased to announce that Carden Wyckoff was elected to serve on the Board of Directors on September 26, 2017. In joining the Board just two years after graduating from college, she becomes the youngest director in the history of the Society.
Carden has been an activist and ambassador for the FSH Society since her high school years. A 2015 graduate of the University of Georgia, where she earned her B.S.A. in biological sciences, she was a leader among disability advocates who worked to improve the accessibility of university properties. She also serves as a moderator of the FSHD Teens/Young Adults Facebook community.
As a member of the FSH Society’s scientific journal club, she helped to updated the Wikipedia entry on FSHD. She has organized many fundraising activities for the FSH Society, most notably the Piggyback Adventures with her siblings, Spencer and Virginia, to take on physical challenges such as the 5-mile Reebok Spartan Run obstacle course and an 82-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail.
Carden was featured in a 2016 episode of American Ninja Warrior when Spencer competed in the Atlanta trials for the popular TV show. She lives in the Atlanta area and works at a Fortune 500 tech company.
