Thank you for visiting the East Tennessee Chapter of the FSHD Society! We are here to build a local community of patients, family and friends, and help them connect and advocate for themselves and each other. Our hope for the future is to find a cure – Until then, we hope to bring a greater awareness to the community, and to help improve the quality of life of all those affected.

CANDICE NORMAN
Chapter Director
Candice lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband, Michael, and their two children. She earned a degree in education from Tennessee Wesleyan with a focus in math and science. Since then, she has built a photography business and worked in graphic design.
Her FSHD journey started in early 2018 when she began falling without warning.
One instance occurred during a photo shoot where she fell trying to step backward. To get in better shape, she hired a personal trainer who first brought to her attention the correlation between her symptoms and those associated with FSHD. She had not heard of the disease prior to that day. While many symptoms had been present since childhood, they went largely unnoticed. Her goals to raise awareness about this disease stem from those experiences. She looks forward to helping patients, caregivers, and providers by raising awareness, providing support, and fundraising with the FSHD Society and its members.
