Our speaker this month addresses an important topic that affects many in our community. Elizabeth Pendo is the Kellye Y. Testy Professor of Law and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Washington School of Law, and a Senior Scholar at the UCSF/UC Law Consortium on Law, Science & Health Policy. She is an expert in disability law and theory, health law and policy, and bioethics and the law, and a member of the Executive Council of the UW Population Health Initiative and affiliate faculty of UW’s multidisciplinary Disability Studies Program. Professor Pendo’s research uses a disability justice framework to study the impact of healthcare and antidiscrimination laws on outcomes and experiences of people with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups in order to promote equity and inclusion in healthcare systems, workplaces, and communities. She has published over 50 journal articles, books, and other publications, and is a co-author of a leading casebook, Health Law: Cases, Materials and Problems, 9th ed. (West).
Our monthly Zoom meeting on Wellness is held on the second Monday of each month at 5:00-6:00 pm ET. Each month, we’ll have a conversation starter topic, but this is an informal gathering and if the discussion veers off in other directions, that’s OK! We hope you’ll drop by to enjoy the company of some of the wonderful people in our community.
We will open the Zoom room a half hour early (4:30 pm ET) so members can enjoy an open forum to discuss whatever is on their minds. Rick Whitehead will be on hand to welcome you in. Wellness Hour has become such a popular destination and we never have enough time for everyone to share what’s on their minds, so we thought we’d try this approach.
If you are interested, please register by clicking on the link below. You only need to register once for the monthly series. You’ll receive notifications from Zoom with the meeting information.
