Our featured presenter, Andrea Jaworek, PT, is passionate about aquatic exercise for people with neuromuscular conditions. Andrea will be presenting on aquatic exercise, discussing the benefits and latest research, the aquatic precautions/contraindications, how to get started and find a clinic, and educating on various exercises as well as equipment recommendations.

Andrea has been a physical therapist for 13 years and participates in neuromuscular research. Since 2017, Andrea has been a clinical evaluator on 34 clinical trials, and currently serves on the training team of the FSHD Clinical Trial Research Network (CTRN). She has been a co-author on multiple abstracts and publications. Andrea is driven to help patients live their best quality of life and be as functional as they can be. She is passionate about aquatic physical therapy and exercise and loves participating in research to help further pharmaceutical advancements to help individuals with neuromuscular diseases be less impaired by their conditions and hopefully find a cure one day.

For people living with FSHD who are interested in exercise and fitness, Feeling Fit with FSHD meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 12:00 pm (noon) U.S. Eastern Time. Come dressed for exercise and have on hand any safety and assistive devices you need. Not every exercise is appropriate or safe for every individual, so please use your best judgement and consult your health care provider.

Please come prepared with a stable chair or stool (back of chair is optional). You can also choose to bring light weights ranging from 1lb to 5lb.
