UPDATE – This month’s discussion leader is Rita Lynn. She will lead a meditation exercise and then we will watch and participate in exercises that can be done while seated, with video provided by Tina Duong, PhD, physical therapist at the FSHD research center at Stanford University. After her diagnosis of FSHD, Rita retired from her photography career and became an advocate for wellness and harm reduction through holistic resources. She is a Meditation Guide and a Medical Cannabis Caregiver with a holistic health center in Maryland. Rita is a student at Maharishi International University majoring in Consciousness and Human Potential. She has been married for 20 years and has three children.
For people living with FSHD who are interested in exercise and fitness, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 12:00 pm (noon) U.S. Eastern Time. Come dressed for exercise and have on hand any safety and assistive devices you need. Not every exercise is appropriate or safe for every individual, so please use your best judgement and consult your health care provider.
Please come prepared with a stable chair or stool (back of chair is optional). You can also choose to bring light weights ranging from 1lb to 5lb.
