Are you a ‘Mouth Breather’? Do you wake up in the morning with a headache?
This month, Frank Hanley returns to discuss the effects of ‘mouth breathing’ and how FSHD can cause diaphragm weakness. In PART 1 of the June “Feeling Fit” sessions, Frank will demonstrate breathing and breathwork exercises to promote nose breathing and help strengthen the diaphragm.
“During a check-up, the doctor asked me if I was waking up with headaches. He was concerned that FSHD could be weakening my diaphragm. I started to practice special breathing exercises to strengthen my diaphragm and improve my breathing. Within days, the headaches were gone.”

For people living with FSHD who are interested in exercise and fitness, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 12:00 pm (noon) U.S. Eastern Time. Come dressed for exercise and have on hand any safety and assistive devices you need. Not every exercise is appropriate or safe for every individual, so please use your best judgement and consult your health care provider.
Please come prepared with a stable chair or stool (back of chair is optional).
